Hello! I am Katherine David, a qualified Psychologist and a supervised Mental Health Therapist based out of Chennai, India.
I've always been a kind and an empathetic person. A lover of sunsets and travelling.
I feel honoured to be working with individuals, bearing witness to their growth and journey.
The courage of my clients is contagious and sticks on to me as well; they're pretty much my champions.
I believe that my clients are beyond capable of taking care of themselves and possess all the resources,
and that I am a facilitator in their therapeutic journey.
It is a joy to learn something from each client and for that, I am grateful to all of them.
One of the best rewards of being a therapist, is to watch my clients evolve, accept where they've come from and
go on to being empowered versions of themselves.
My Journey Of Becoming A Therapist
I used to love reading articles that had psychological leanings and I was truly intrigued by its content.
Some of them were related to such familiar feelings like anxiety, worry and nervousness.
Soon a hobby turned into an educational path, when I went on to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
After working in various fields of psychology (clinical, marine, research, etc.), I also interned with a Neuropsychiatrist for over a year. By the time I completed my Master of Science in Applied Psychology, I had found my calling - to be a mental health therapist.
In order to do so, I needed to get trained further and most importantly acknowledge and manage my own mental health.
So I signed up for a One Year PG Diploma program in counselling (offline) and trained for over a year in various therapeutic orientations under experienced professionals and as a part of this training, I was required to see a therapist myself for over 30 hours which was a game changer.
I also got to experience the power of SUPERVISION from a trained professional.
I got to meet with my Supervisor frequently to discuss clinical notes and my learning from this was immense.
I still am choosing to regularly meet with my supervisor to continue to keep my learning going.
My experience with therapy
Therapy felt like a warm hug and a hot cup of coffee on a cold morning. My therapist acted as a mirror to my world, where I was completely myself and said anything I wanted to without being the least bit worried about feeling judged.
All through my therapeutic journey, I learnt so much about myself, about the person I am today, the cause of my anxious patterns, identifying and using my strengths more often , coping with my limitations, etc.
It felt like a huge jigsaw puzzle was finally coming together, all so beautifully. This was the most valuable journey I had ever taken.
Setting up Trouvaille:
The deep desire to share the beautiful experience of therapy with many others led to the setting up of Trouvaille Mental Wellness - an online platform for accessible therapy. A place where we can grow together!
It's been 4.5 years now and this platform has helped me experience over 5000 impactful hours working as a Therapist.
Trouvaille is now 4 years old:
These last four years have been nothing short of amazing. I got to work with individuals across the globe - happy to say that we have worked with clients from over 11 countries in the world. Thanking my clients here for trusting me in this journey not only for themselves but also for referring me in their circles. This gave me the privilege of working with over 1000+ individuals and have completed close to 5000+ hours of therapy sessions.
Overall, it has been a very humbling journey for me, getting to be a catalyst for my lovely clients who were looking to grow and heal.
For me, the most gratifying parts of my work have been,
my clients starting to make space for their humanity, healing from their past and letting life's joys flow towards them through their positive changes that I see them work so hard for.
Sending love and care to all my past, present and future clients!
Looking forward to touching more lives and learning more from my wonderfully amazing clients.
